5 Reasons you need a girls Holiday

Whether you're navigating the challenges of motherhood, experiencing a lull in life, thriving in a high-powered career, or even balancing all three at once, chances are a holiday or weekend getaway has crossed your mind- more than once. We all know how beneficial taking a break can be—mentally, emotionally, and physically. But how often do we truly make it a priority?

We all know that self-care should sit at the top of our priority list, yet for many of us, life can make that easier said than done. As a busy working mum of two energetic boys (and yes, their current ages do make a difference--they keep me on my toes!), I understand just how challenging it can be to carve out time for yourself. Gone are the days when enjoying an uninterrupted shower was simply the norm. Now, it feels like a luxury. But no matter how much effort it takes to prioritize self-care, I’ve come to realize the incredible impact it has. It rejuvenates every fibre of my being, making it worth every moment. But what if selfcare looked like the ultimate girls holiday? because I have recently got back from a girls 3 night break to Malaga and it was what we all needed.

Self-care holidays and weekend getaways offer countless benefits. They provide an opportunity to spend quality time with friends, forge new connections, create lasting memories, and experience exciting new adventures. These moments of joy help us fully embrace and appreciate the world around us, allowing us to return with a renewed sense of purpose and fulfilment.

Do you really need a reason to plan a girls' holiday? Honestly, the answer is no—you don’t. But if you’re looking for justification, let me give you a few: spending quality time with friends, creating unforgettable memories, embarking on new adventures, and most importantly, doing something just for you. These are all incredibly valid reasons, but the last one truly stands out!

As a mum myself, I’ve come to realize how essential it is to occasionally prioritize yourself. My group of friends, whom I've been lucky to know since school, are all mums now too. On our recent girls' weekend in Málaga, every single one of us shared the same sentiment: “It’s so nice to do something for me.” And that’s the beauty of a girls’ trip—taking a little time to recharge and reconnect with yourself. It’s not just a holiday; it’s self-care, and as a mum, that’s absolutely priceless.
