Have you never been on a cruise but are starting to notice more and more people around you who have? Not just your cousin’s aunt or the retired neighbour next door, but people just like you and me are giving it a try. Why? Because cruises are amazing experiences—and now, I want to try one too!
I used to think cruising was more suited for older travellers or perhaps a slower way to explore the world. It never crossed my mind as an exciting option for the younger generation as well as families with young children. However, as a travel agent, I've recently seen a surge in requests for cruise information, which also include families booking trips with children as young as three years old. Having a 4-year-old myself, I initially doubted whether cruising would work for us. But as I started researching, I was amazed by the sheer variety of activities and entertainment available onboard. It completely changed my perspective, and now I’m seriously considering that cruising could be a fantastic family-friendly adventure.- but that's another story.
I am looking for a short girls holiday could a cruise ship tick all the boxes? Well let’s take a moment to break this down: what do I really want from my holiday?
- Relaxation
- Delicious food
- Opportunities to explore and discover new places
Now, does a cruise check all these boxes? Let’s find out!
What truly captivated me about a cruise holiday was the sheer quality and indulgence it offers. As a busy mum of two, the idea of having someone else take care of planning my activities, routes, and travel arrangements felt like an instant win. I’ll admit, it’s a bit ironic given my profession as a travel agent where I thrive on organising holidays for others – but let’s face it, even planners need a break!
Much like any other holiday, the experience you have depends entirely on the cruise line you choose. Personally, I’m not searching for a massive ship with waterslides dangling off the sides or bumper cars zipping around on deck—though I’ll admit, that does sound fun! At this stage in my life, however, I’m craving something different. I’m looking for a touch of luxury, a chance to unwind, and the opportunity to explore. As a busy working mum, this is far from my everyday reality, which is exactly why these are the things I value most in a holiday.
I’ve partnered with Ambassador, a premium no-fly cruise line, and they graciously invited me aboard one of their ships to experience everything they have to offer. While the ship wasn’t very large, I loved that it meant fewer guests on board at any given time, creating a more intimate and relaxed atmosphere. The onboard facilities were truly impressive, and the addition of a full spa made the experience even more special for me. After exploring the ship and touring the bedrooms, I was pleasantly surprised. Contrary to my initial assumption that the cabins would feel cramped and claustrophobic, they were anything but. The rooms were spacious and inviting. Next, we had the chance to sample the food from the onboard restaurants, and I must say, it was absolutely exceptional. I was truly impressed! The food on a cruise ship plays a crucial role in the overall experience, especially since there are times when you don’t have other dining options. As a foodie, this is always something I carefully consider before making a booking. I was thrilled to discover that the meals onboard were absolutely delicious—far exceeding my expectations and leaving me with nothing to worry about!
With food and relaxation taken care of, let’s talk about activities and exploration. This is my favourite part of any holiday, and going on a cruise is no exception! Here’s the best part: the cruise line has already curated the itinerary for you, carefully selecting the highlights and must-see spots. No planning needed—just sit back and enjoy the adventure.
Cruising isn’t just a holiday; it’s a journey that offers a unique way to explore the world while indulging in unparalleled comfort and luxury. Life on board is about more than just travel; it’s about the connections you make, the memories you create, and the freedom to unwind. So, can you give in to cruise life and come along for the ride?
